2007-2008

Investment in Research and Development Leading to Innovative Products

  • In 2007, we invested in testing and production equipment and conducted research to enhance the performance of our controllers. A dedicated team of engineers at Motorino focused on improving the efficiency and performance of our electric bikes, scooters, and motorcycles.
  • In 2008, we developed CCT (Continuous Current Technology), an innovative controller and motor technology. This breakthrough allowed us to independently control the torque and speed of BLDC motors by weakening the flux and increasing efficiency. Around the same time, the global recession peaked, leading consumers to seek affordable transportation alternatives.
  • In 2008, our company achieved its break-even point after five years of operation, marking our first year of profitability. This success was largely driven by our R&D efforts and the innovations we integrated into our electric vehicles.
  • By the end of 2008, our sales skyrocketed, driven by the superior performance and stability of our controllers. With little to no competition matching our technology, and the high quality of our electric bikes and scooters, we successfully expanded our dealership network across Canada.

2010

VANCOUVER 2010 OLYMPICS

The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver raised significant awareness about electric scooters, climate change, and the shift toward affordable, sustainable transportation.

Our scooter was chosen by renowned Canadian environmental activist Tzeporah Berman, director of Greenpeace’s international climate program, to carry the Olympic torch during the games—highlighting the importance of eco-friendly mobility on a global stage.

PIONEERING CMVSS-COMPLIANT ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES

In 2010, we homologated the first electric Motorino motorcycle to meet Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (CMVSS). One of our earliest customers, Vancouver's chief engineer Peter Judd, invited us to present at City Hall to support the launch of an electric scooter-sharing program. He also facilitated free parking for all electric motorcycles, encouraging the adoption of sustainable transportation.

FREE PARKING FOR ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES

As part of its efforts to promote electric motorcycles and scooters, the City of Vancouver introduced a Free Parking program for electric two-wheel vehicles. More than 200 parking spots across Metro Vancouver were designated specifically for free use by electric motorcycles and scooters, encouraging sustainable urban transportation.

GROWING INTEREST IN SUSTAINABLE PEV TRANSPORTATION

As the sole distributor of electric motorcycles and scooters in Canada, our company frequently collaborated with the media to promote clean, alternative transportation solutions. We were regularly invited to participate in events focused on raising awareness about climate change and improving air quality.

2011-2012

EXCLUSIVE PRODUCTION PARTNERSHIP

In 2011, we signed an exclusive production contract with one of the largest and most reputable manufacturers in Taizhou, China, integrating our custom CCT controllers into the design. To ensure the highest quality, we employed external engineers to oversee product quality control. The production line for our electric scooters and motorcycles was certified to the internationally recognized ISO 9001 standard for quality management.

EXPANSION OF DEALERSHIP AND FRANCHISE NETWORK

With continuous improvements in the performance and quality of our products, our dealership network grew rapidly. By 2012, we had over 30 dealers across Canada, with Motorino electric bikes and scooters becoming their best-selling products.

That same year, we launched the E-Ride franchise network, offering exclusive sales of Motorino-branded e-bikes, scooters, and motorcycles, further expanding our reach and brand presence.

AWARD-WINNING TRADE SHOW PRESENCE AND INNOVATIVE MARKETING

In 2011, we built an eye-catching booth that won multiple "Best Booth" awards at various trade shows. This marked the beginning of our participation in trade shows across Canada and internationally. In both 2011 and 2012, we showcased our products at the largest bike show in North America, held in Las Vegas.

Our unique electric bikes and motorcycles set us apart at lifestyle, environmentally-focused, and transportation-related trade shows.

PRODUCT DIVERSIFICATION AND GROWTH IN DEMAND

We expanded our product lineup to include ten models of scooters and eight models of e-bikes. Simultaneously, we grew our manufacturing partnerships from two to five. By 2012, our sales in Canada had surged, leading us to import 20 containers annually. Notably, order volumes for Motorino e-bikes and e-scooters from our East Coast dealers exceeded those from the West Coast, reflecting our expanding market reach nationwide.

NEW SHOWROOM AND A DECADE OF MOTORINO CELEBRATED

In 2011, we opened a new 6,000 sq. ft. showroom and Motorino service center. On Earth Day, April 22, 2012, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Motorino brand, marking a decade of innovation in electric bikes, scooters, and motorcycles.
