Overview
Super Soco is a well-established player in the electric two-wheeler market, having made a successful debut in Europe in 2019. It quickly became the top choice for urban riders seeking an electric motorcycle equivalent to a 125CC model. The TC Max is a spirited bike that adds a touch of excitement to your daily commute. Unlike traditional gas engines, the electric motor delivers instant torque to the rear wheel, providing immediate acceleration with just a twist of the throttle.
Developed in collaboration with Bosch and assembled in China using European parts, this model caters to riders who prioritize the pleasure of riding and the overall experience. While it may not be lightning-fast, the engine produces a peak power of 5 kW, resulting in satisfying acceleration. It reaches its peak quickly, which is more than sufficient for navigating busy urban traffic. The TC Max features a motorcycle-like design with a slight vintage touch, presenting itself as a stylish roadster with excellent braking, attractive aesthetics, and near-flawless handling.
One of the notable design elements of the TC Max is its round LED headlight, complemented by a suspended ribbed saddle, a contemporary-style “engine” cowling, and stick-style rims. The easy-to-read meter on the dashboard provides information such as battery charge level, remaining range, selected driving mode, as well as standard indicators like speed and mileage.
REMOVABLE BATTERY
The Super Soco TC Max incorporates a keyless start system, activated by pressing the central power button located under the handlebars. The 3.2 kWh Bosch battery, housed in the dummy tank, takes approximately 4 to 5 hours to charge using a standard outlet. On a full charge, the TC Max offers an impressive range of up to 60 miles in ECO mode and 50 miles at full speed. The battery can be easily extracted from its housing, allowing for convenient charging at home or the office. The sophisticated algorithm calculates the State of Charge (SOC) and displays the remaining riding distance on the dashboard.
MOTOR
The TC Max features a 5,500 RPM axial flux motor, replacing the TC hub motor, developed in collaboration with Bosh. This high motor speed is efficiently converted into instant torque through a toothed belt, and the motor’s 5000W power sustains the torque, enabling a consistent speed even on steep inclines.
By power, TC Max motor is rated as 125cc ICE engine, but with it instant torque TC Max surpasses the acceleration of its gasoline counterparts.
Considering its urban-focused design, the TC Max comes in two versions in Canada: an LSM variant with a maximum speed of 70 km/h and a motorcycle variant with a maximum speed of 95 km/h.
CONTROLLER
The heart of the bike, the controller, is housed in a one-piece ribbed die-cast aluminum box for excellent heat dissipation. Mounted at the front of the bike, it ensures efficient cooling, although its oversized current ratings would enable it to stay cool even during long uphill rides. The Field Oriented Controller (FOC) incorporates a vector control algorithm, maintaining efficiency across a wide range of speeds. The controller dynamically adjusts torque based on road conditions. Additionally, it is equipped with a dedicated processor that monitors all electronic components, ensuring a safe and efficient ride.
CHASSIS
The Super Soco TC Max impresses not only with its electrical components but also with the quality of its mechanical parts. The unique mechanical construction starts with a chassis, which design is based on the split-frame concept of racing motorcycles, combining robustness with a lightweight structure. The front end is made of robot-welded carbon steel, which is then coated with electrophoresis paint, resulting in a weight of only 6 kg. The rear half of the frame is constructed from robot-welded aluminum alloy, subjected to T6 heat processing, enhancing its strength to 240 MPa. With this construction, the TC Max can handle a load of up to 150 kg (330 lb).
SUSPENSION & COMFORT
In addition to its impressive rigidity, the Super Soco TC Max provides exceptional comfort through its suspension system. The bike is equipped with inverted motorcycle-grade front shock absorbers, measuring 700 mm in length and 35 mm in width. With a travel distance of 200 mm, strong torsion resistance, and an optimized angle, it offers a comfortable ride even on rough terrain. The rear hydraulic mono-shock, which is adjustable, further enhances the bike’s comfort. The TC Max also features a retro-style padded seat for added comfort.
BRAKES and SAFETY features
The Super Soco TC Max features a large 240 mm hydraulic double-piston front brake with oversized floating calipers, ensuring reliable stopping power. It also utilizes high-quality Brembo hydraulic brakes and a Combined Brake System (CBS). The CBS enables the rear brake to work in conjunction with the front brake, enhancing balance and preventing unbalanced manual braking during emergency situations.
The smooth regenerative braking system is applied before the mechanical braking, serving as an Electric Anti-Block System (EABS). The battery’s BMS algorithm ensures maximum conversion of electric power during braking.
LIGHTS
The TC Max boasts an elegant retro-style enclosure for its headlight. It incorporates six LED modules that provide high/low beam and running headlight functions. These LEDs offer brighter and more power-efficient illumination compared to halogen headlights. With a 35-degree beam, they concentrate over 8000 lumens of light in high beam mode.
The bike also features thirty independent LEDs that provide wide-angle daylight running lights. The rear running, brake, and turn signal lights are designed in a classic style that complements the bike’s retro aesthetics.
DISPLAY, GAUGES, SWITCHES
A combination of analog and digital displays is enclosed in a retro-style dashboard. It presents information such as current speed, error codes, total mileage, controller temperature, real-time output current, battery state of charge, distance per charge, trip distance, remaining distance, ambient temperature, and current time. In the near future, this data will also be accessible through a smartphone application. The bike features three electronic gear switches, a hi/low beam headlight switch, and a motor kill switch, all ergonomically positioned on the right side of the handlebar.
SECURITY
The Motorino Super Soco TC Max offers advanced security features to protect against theft. It employs a keyless start system that only works when the fob is in proximity. The bike is equipped with mechanical and electronic theft protection devices. It includes a steering wheel lock that immobilizes the handlebar in one position. Additionally, an electronic keyless starting system makes it nearly impossible to start the bike without the remote ignition activation knob. If the remote control is not present nearby, the motor automatically locks up.
